“The General Federation of Women’s Clubs is an international women’s organization dedicated to community improvement by enhancing the lives of others through volunteer service. Collectively, we are Living the Volunteer Spirit.”
These words, found on many GFWC publications, summarize very nicely what our organization is all about – from the International level down to the grassroots local clubs. Our own club has served our community since February of 1921. To enumerate the many ways we serve would take too long, and seem inordinately boastful. (Perhaps a page dedicated to GFWC history would be a good idea?) We do take pride in the establishing our local library, and in the donation of a local historical site known at the Yulee Sugar Mill to our state.
We serve in many areas: the Arts, Conservation, Education, Home Life, International Outreach and Public Issues. We focus on local service, but also serve on state, national and international levels. We are especially fond of serving our children and our veterans. We are always looking for ways to serve!
Our clubwomen and boosters are dedicated, hardworking and fun-loving. We meet on the first Monday of each month from September through May, starting at 1:00 pm. If there is a holiday on our meeting day, we meet on the second Monday. We love to host visitors! If you are in our area, do feel free to drop by. You will be most welcome!
